The 2023-2024 Journalism had outstanding performances and finished 5th in State on Friday 4/26 at Normal Illinois. The team had was led by individual State Champion in Yearbook Caption Writing, Sierra Knutsen. Grace Tynski earned 2nd Place at State in Feature Writing. Rawan (Rory) Ali earned 2nd Place at State in Photo Story Telling. Adan Dominguez finished in 6th place at State in Headline Writing.

The Spartan Survivor Scholarship is open to any senior who has been affected by cancer themselves or through a loved one. Recipients must have at least a 2.0 GPA and plan to attend post-secondary schooling at either a 4-year college, community college, or career/trade school. Breakfast items are now available in the Spartan Lobby from 8:00am-8:25am and from 8:50am – 9:15am on Wednesdays. The price of the complete breakfast meal will either be Free, Reduced ($.30) or Paid ($3.50). A complete breakfast meal includes one entree and a minimum of one, up to two sides (unless otherwise marked). In addition to the complete meal, a la carte items such as breakfast bars, granola bars, etc. will also be available for purchase. Be ready to show your ID and please eat your breakfast BEFORE the start of your first period. Keep an eye out for the breakfast cart in the Spartan Lobby!

Ventra Cards are now available for sale in the Business Office, Room 123. Cost is $2.00. If you’ve already purchased a card online, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to pick up/purchase a card.

Club/Team News

Student Helpers - Interested in joining Student Helpers next year? We will have a meeting TOMORROW Tuesday, April 30th from 3:00 – 3:30pm in the cafeteria jr./sr. lounge. All current sophomore and junior student helpers should also attend, especially if interested in becoming an officer next year! Any freshmen and other students interested in joining should attend to find out about our summer training and events in the early fall.

Theater - Interested in theater but don’t know how to start? Look no further than our 24-Hour Musical, CHICAGO! Get experience in the cast or crew and have a great time putting on an exciting performance! To learn more, there will be an info meeting on Monday, May 13th at 3:00 in Room 104! Auditions will be on May 17th and the show will be the next day, May 18th! This will be a lock in experience! Come experience Musical Theatre with low pressure and lots of fun! Pick up a permission slip on May 13th in room 104 to participate. You must turn in the permission slip on May 17th to be a part of the show! Cheer - Interested in the 2024 Fall Cheer Season?  Come to our open gym in gym 101 on Saturday May 4th from 12pm to 2pm.  Tumble, stunt, jumps, sideline cheers and more will be our focus to get ready for tryouts held in May.  If you have any questions, contact Coach Vanderwarren in Room 123.
